Rochester, NY – February 16, 2023 – D3, today announced plans to develop high-performance camera solutions, powered by Intel processors, that will enable low-risk development of autonomous, industrial, automotive, and robotic sensing products.
D3 will manufacture high-performance MIPI and SerDes-enabled camera modules and integrate them with edge compute and processing systems. A few of the many intel centric systems that D3 will integrate with are based on the Intel Atom processors x7000E Series, Intel Processor N Series, and Intel Core i3-N305 processor. This technology will be designed to meet the requirements of the global edge compute market. D3’s cameras, manufactured in the USA, will feature high quality optics, sealed and unsealed versions, and MIPI CSI-2 and FPD-Link™ III connectivity interface options. At launch, D3 will offer two camera modules tailored to different use cases. First, a global shutter high-definition (HD) model, based on the AR0234 sensor from ON Semiconductor, for high speed and indoor applications. Second, a high dynamic range (HDR) model with HD resolution, based on the IMX390 sensor from Sony, for outdoor and variable light environments. These cameras pair perfectly with the Intel processors and take full advantage of the image processing units (IPUs)to produce high quality, low latency video streams.

“Intel’s high performance processing technology with specialized cores for image processing and inference is highly desirable in a whole host of applications that require machine vision, artificial intelligence, autonomous machines, and sensor fusion.” said Jerome Barczykowski, Director of Product Design Services at D3. “D3 is excited to bring our extensive experience in embedded sensing systems design to provide solutions based on Intel’s technology. In our collaboration with Intel, we look forward to creating new, innovative sensing solutions for our customers.”
Utilizing Intel solutions will allow D3 to further scale its efforts and meet growing industry demand as more customers select Intel for intelligent sensing systems. In addition, by developing solutions that utilize Intel Atom processors x7000E Series, Intel Processor N Series, and Intel Core i3-N305 processor, D3 will accelerate its time-to-market and time-to-cost strategies.
The solutions will enable deep learning and image processing for edge applications like autonomous mobile robotics, material handling, and more with power-efficient Intel Atom processors x7000E Series, Intel Processor N Series, and Intel Core i3-N305 processors. These processors feature the same Efficient-core (or E-core) and Intel UHD Graphics driven by Xe architecture as 12th Gen Intel Core processors, including up to four cores in Intel Atom processors x7000E Series and up to eight cores on Intel® Core™ i3 processor. By using the same architecture, it is easier to port applications and solutions across Intel CPU performance and power ranges. When combined with a camera module from D3, customers can enable edge sensing capabilities for AI, HD Imaging, and real-time computing. Paired with high resolution, low latency and low power cameras, these solutions will blend efficiency, performance, and low latency data acquisition. Deep-learning inference accelerators and built-in Intel UHD graphics for edge applications make these solutions ideal for demanding, real time embedded sensing applications.
