LFM technology mitigates flicker caused by LED lighting.

LED Flicker Mitigation (LFM) is used in image sensors and image processing to address flicker caused by LED light sources. This flicker happens because most LED lights, including traffic signals, signs, and even some indoor lighting, use pulse width modulation (PWM) to regulate the LED brightness by rapidly turning the LED on and off at a specific frequency. This creates a flickering effect that is captured by cameras. 

This flicker can cause various problems such as:

  • Confuse drivers who might mistake flickering LEDs for emergency lights or turn signals
  • Lead to inaccurate information being captured by cameras in security or monitoring systems
  • Reduce overall image quality
