Motion Controls Design
Look to D3 Engineering for DSP expertise in developing motion control solutions. Our Controls Group can supply your company with a complete motion control solution – custom designed for your application – or we can supplement your design team with additional software and hardware resources.
Unique Controls Design Service
Unlike hiring a contract employee or consultant, D3’s team of experts can assist you with DSP hardware, software and algorithms over a wide range of control applications including servo, power, stepper, MEMS, linear encoders, thermal controls and more. Our numerous motion control algorithms and reference designs can get you to a working prototype in record time.
Our Motion Control group has years of experience designing industrial control solutions. Our experts have assisted customers with projects ranging from low-cost consumer products like inkjet printers and automotive applications to high-end industrial control, precision optical alignment, and vision control systems. Our expertise includes:
Stepper Motors
Power / Other Control

Custom Designed Solutions
We have developed custom solutions for clients that include BLDC servo systems, AC induction, and stepper motors. We have had notable success in applications that combine our expertise in Image Processing and Motion Control to create Machine Vision and Medical products.
Kruse Control
If you need positional accuracy beyond microstepping and high-cost servo drives, Kruse Control, our patented high-precision motion control platform, can be an effective solution. D3 has teamed up with the inventor to provide a DSP-based platform for high performance systems. Kruse Control gives you significant improvements in the speed/torque curve, extremely fine position control, and a cost savings over servo motion control systems. More Info
Reference Designs
D3 has developed reference designs for all Texas Instruments C2000 devices (24x, 24xx, & 28xx). By leveraging our existing prototypes, we can quickly help your team implement a working solution. We can also assist your design team in programming peripherals, optimizing code, or converting simulations (Matlab, etc) into real-time systems.
Texas Instruments C2000 Family Expertise
A typical D3 solution uses a DSP from Texas Instruments C2000 family. We chose Texas Instruments because they offer a full rage of devices from low-cost to high-performance, and their on-chip peripherals are designed specifically for motion control. Their high speed cores allow D3 to develop the sophisticated mathematics that can both lower the cost of a system and increase performance and features.
