Phase 1 – Proof of Concept
The purpose of phase one is to create a working, real-time proof of concept. The signal processing algorithm will be prototyped and tested in MatLab and portions of it may be ported to real-time architecture. The hardware platform will be selected and a “starter kit” or similar prototype board will be used to develop the concept. Basic software structure will be established.
Goal
Our goal is to create a platform to evaluate system performance versus your stated requirements.
Required to Start
All we need to get started are your system requirements – a document stating simple project requirements as to size, power, and other requirements. For example, "The MatLab algorithm must run in real-time."
Main Tasks
Algorithm- Initial Testing in MatLab
- Floating vs. Fixed Point Tradeoffs
- Algorithm Assessment
- Port to Phase 1 Hardware
- Optimization
- Tool Selection
- Chip Support Library
- Board Support Package
- Device Drivers
- Proof of Concept Application
- Architecture Assessment
- Processor Selection
- Starter Kit of Reference Design
- Customize Daughter Card
- Hardware Architecture Block Diagram
The output of Phase 1 will include a forward requirements document and a requirements freeze date.
